Shining God’s Light and Finding Strength in Him

The world can feel heavy with negativity and injustice, but God calls us to live differently. He wants us to shine His light through good works and to rely on His strength when we feel weak. At TCI Birmingham, a family church Birmingham UK, we encourage believers to live boldly in faith, knowing God equips us for every challenge.

Let Your Light Shine (Matthew 5:16)

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16).

It is said “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” It is true. Doing nothing is easy, but it is also dangerous. Where there is no opposition to evil, evil will multiply.

We all fall into the trap of complaining about the things that are wrong. But complaining does nothing except discourage us even more. It changes nothing because there is no positive power in it. Imagine what a mess the world would be if all God did was complain about everything that has gone wrong since He created it. But the Father does not complain. He continues to be good and work for justice. Evil is powerful, but good is more powerful.

We need to stop and realise that God has chosen to work on this earth through His children, you and me. His light is inside us and we cannot afford to do nothing. We must let our light shine, no matter what, as we live our lives doing good in His name. We can stand in opposition to evil, and act on God’s goodness every chance we get.

God Gives Strength to the Weak (Isaiah 40:28-29)

“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.” (Isaiah 40:28-29).

God cares for the outcast, the weak, and the helpless. He loves to do His greatest work through the most unlikely people. God could work through the most powerful and wealthy people. But one of the ways God shows His true power is when He strengthens the weak and gives power to the powerless. When God sent His Son to earth, Jesus came in the form of a helpless baby.

God doesn’t often choose the powerful; He empowers those He chooses. This is great news for us! We may not be the best at what we do or the most influential person, but God can still use you. You may not feel like you have the right traits or talents to be used by God and that’s okay. God can use anyone and everyone. God makes it a habit of taking our greatest weakness and greatest pains to use for His glory. Take a moment right now to ask God for strength.

If you’re feeling weak, ask Him to increase your power. Ask Him to open your heart and mind to how He can use your weaknesses to make a difference in the world around you.

Conclusion

God calls us to shine His light boldly and trust His strength fully. Don’t shrink back in fear, and don’t let weakness hold you down. Instead, live with courage, letting your good works point others to Christ. Remember, His power is limitless, and His light through you can change lives.
