Many people hold back in life because of fear of failure or uncertainty about the future. God calls us to press forward, trusting Him to guide each step. At TCI Birmingham, a church in Birmingham city centre, we encourage believers to embrace faith over fear and persevere through challenges.

1) Let Go of the Past and Focus Ahead
Philippians 3:13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.
There are many people who are so afraid of making a mistake that they don’t do anything. Instead, they hold back saying, what if I’m wrong? If we are wandering off somewhere and not sure where we are, we can literally cry out to God, come and get me! I’m confused. I think I made a wrong decision. God knows we cannot be perfect, so He sent His son as a perfect sacrifice for us. Now we’re pressing toward the mark of perfection. God is calling you to press forward today. Stop living in fear of making mistakes, because everyone makes mistakes, period. God is not asking you to not make mistakes. He’s calling you to press forward, trusting Him to lead you. He’s asking you to call upon Him. Don’t live in fear of your imperfection. Live with faith in God’s perfect plan for you. God does not want us to live paralysed by fear of our imperfection and my mistakes. He knows we can’t be perfect. Instead, He wants us to call out to Him, and He will help you press forward to the mark of perfection.
2) Stay Strong Through Life’s Challenges
2 Chronicles 15:7 But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.
At times, life can be rough and tough. You may feel like giving up, there are so many things that demand your attention and while it may be good to leave behind unhealthy friends, relationships, jobs, environments, and habits, it’s also important to keep fighting for what is good and right. Don’t give up on your dream, fight for your marriage, fight for your child, fight for your health and life – don’t give up! Know that you are not alone and know that you are in the hands of God- He will provide you with strength when you need it. You haven’t read the final chapter of your story. God has already written it, but you haven’t read it yet. Keep at the right thing you are doing, don’t give up on it. Your effort will be rewarded. This 2nd half of the year will be better.
3) Choose Hope Over Dread
Proverbs 23:18 There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
When you think about the future, are you hopeful? Or do you struggle with a sense of dread? People who have seen God’s faithfulness in the past tend to be very hopeful about the future. They know an unpleasant situation can turn into a wonderful testimony in a matter of minutes. On the other hand, people who have lost all hope view life from the perspective of dread. A relative to fear, dread steals the ability to enjoy ordinary life and makes people anxious about the future. Hope is the opposite of dread, and a close relative of faith. When we have faith in God, it leads to hope, and our outlook on life and the future is positive. Hope allows us to leave our unanswered questions in God’s hands; it empowers us to remain at peace, and it enables us to believe the best about the days to come. You can have hope when you trust in God’s love. He has the power to provide for you and lead you through every situation. When I choose to put my faith in God, it will turn into hope, and I do not have to live in dread. Such hope will not be disappointed.
In Conclusion – Keep Pressing Forward
Don’t allow fear or past mistakes to stop your progress. Anchor your life in hope and trust, and keep moving forward with faith.
